The Day of Surgery

On the day of surgery, the surgery center team will help guide you through each step. You will receive instructions before your procedure so you know when to arrive, what medications to use, and how to prepare. Most eye surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis, meaning you return home the same day. You should plan to have a responsible adult drive you home after surgery.

Although each procedure is different, your surgery day may include:

Check-in and confirmation of your medical information
Review of your planned procedure
Eye drops or medications before surgery
Time in the operating room
Post-operative instructions before going home
A scheduled follow-up visit

After Surgery: Recovery and Follow-Up Care

After surgery, your follow-up care is an important part of your recovery. We will monitor healing, answer questions, and adjust your care plan as needed.

Depending on the procedure, you may receive instructions about:

Activity restrictions
Protective eyewear
When to resume driving
When to return to work or normal activities
Symptoms that should prompt a call to our office
Follow-up appointment timing

Some temporary symptoms after eye surgery may be normal, such as mild irritation, light sensitivity, tearing, or fluctuating vision. However, any sudden change in vision, increasing pain, significant redness, or concerning symptoms should be reported promptly.
